About Us

Holywood NDT LTD are a Northern Ireland based company focused on Inspection and Testing services. Core services include structural / mechanical inspection, Non-Destructive Testing (VT, MT, PT, UT and EC), pressure vessel inspection and machinery safety. We can sub-contract electrical and electronic control system testing if required. We supply inspection and testing services across Western Europe, and sometimes further afield, from our base in Northern Ireland to various industries including the oil & gas, power generation, cement, construction, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and leisure industries. Our staff are registered with the Engineering Council (UK) and the company is accredited by the Leisure Equipment & Asset Protection Scheme (LEAPS) and the Amusement Device Inspection Procedures Scheme (ADIPS).

With a background in process safety engineering the Director, John Walls, is specialised in Structural / Mechanical Inspection, Non-Destructive Testing (VT, MT, PT, UT and EC), Pressure Vessel Inspection, and Machinery Safety. John has over 10 years industry experience working with multinationals to small to medium businesses. He set up Holywood NDT LTD in 2018 after leaving a full time position with Applus+ in Qatar, Middle East. The company has a particular focus on the power generation (nuclear, wind and gas turbines) and leisure industries but undertakes work in various other industries. The Director, John Walls, holds an MSc(Eng) in Process Safety Engineering from the University of Sheffield (2017), is an Incorporated Engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and a Certified PUWER Assessor (CPA). He sits on the National Association For Leisure Industry Certification (NAFLIC) Standards Committee, working with the HSE (UK) and other stakeholders to help promote safety in the leisure industry. He also works closely with the Irish government on leisure safety.
